There are companies that offer services which claim to put you up near the top of the search engines. This type of service is called SEO or Search Engine Optimization. You must be careful... the fact is there is no way to assure top placement on search engines. So beware of companies that promise that. Also, a good web designer can get you placed on search engines many times easily as a SEO company. At Cyclops Studios we always use keywords which are of top importance to getting you to show up!

First this requires a little explaination as to how search engines work.

Search engines employ the use of something called "spiders" which are constantly searching the web for new sites. One thing that determines if they will "find" your site is if you have "keywords" in the code of your site which match up with text on your site. Cyclops Studios ALWAYS places keywords in the code as part of our site design and do not charge extra for this. Every web site should have keywords as part of it's design.

These keywords are things that are specific to your site, first and formost being the name of your business and then your name. Using more than 8 or 10 keywords is useless. There must be some skill employed in their use as they need to be terms that would be searched for but are not too common. We are very good at coming up with basic keywords.

However whether you show up or not can be a luck of the draw and is determined mainly by how many other sites have the same keywords. There are MILLIONS of web sites out there and not all of them can show up on the first page of a search. If your name is unique we can "almost" guarantee you will show up within 4 to 6 weeks (The typical amount of time it takes to start showing up). HOWEVER... people have to be searching for your name or your business name. The only way to assure any type of placement on a search engine is to pay for an ad. Those are very expensive. But again, a good set of keywords and following some simple rules will allow you to show up when people search for you. Most all of our sites show up!

IMPORTANT: Having a web site does not mean people will visit it. The way you get visitors to your site is by ADVERTSING it. Place your web site address on everything!
